“Keeping our country away from this fire hole is our top priority”
Speaking at the 10th National Will Iftar, President Erdoğan said: “Just like last night, we are carrying out necessary preventive activities against every kind of threat that violates our airspace. Türkiye’s thousands-year-old ancient statecraft and our government’s 23-year-old crisis management experience are our biggest guides in analyzing the complicated incidents in our vicinity and giving them appropriate responses. Keeping our country away from this fire hole is our top priority.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the 10th National Will Iftar held by the National Will Platform in Istanbul.
“ISLAMIC WORLD IS BEING ASSOCIATED WITH CONFLICTS AND WARS”
Stating that although Ramadan is the month of peace, solidarity, brotherhood and mercy, President Erdoğan voiced his sorrow over the Islamic world being associated with pain, tears, conflicts and wars on these sacred days, and said: “While Gaza, where we have had 72 thousand martyrs, is longing for peace despite the ceasefire, Israel’s inhumane occupation policies in the West Bank are added to this. Over 1,120 civilian Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli forces or the settler terrorists in the past two years in the West Bank and East al-Quds. The number of those, who have been martyred in Gaza since October 10, has reached 640. Most of those, who have been massacred, are children, women and the elderly.”
“ADMINISTRATIONS UNFORTUNATELY HAVE BOWED DOWN TO PRESSURE AND BLACKMAIL”
“We are unfortunately faced with the same saddening picture all across our geography, from our neighbor Iran to Yemen, and Sudan to Somalia,” President Erdoğan underscored, and added: “What is more saddening is that the world remains silent and indifferent to this picture, and ignores, so to speak, the ongoing pains. We saw this in the oppression that lasted for 13.5 years in Syria. We saw this when people died of hunger in Somalia. We saw this when our brothers and sisters were massacred in Khojaly. We saw this before in that genocide in Srebrenica. Lately, we have seen this in a very bitter manner in the Gaza atrocity. While peoples have raised their voices, while universities have each become a center of resistance, while squares swarmed with conscientious people, administrations unfortunately have bowed down to pressure sometimes, and blackmail at other times. Some countries have turned a blind eye to oppression and genocide. Some countries have supported such mass murderers as Israel.”
“WE ARE CARRYING OUT NECESSARY PREVENTIVE ACTIVITIES AGAINST EVERY KIND OF THREAT”
Stressing that Türkiye is putting up the struggle of being the conscience of humanity in such a world experiencing a loss of conscience, President Erdoğan noted that the Turkish official institutions and nongovernmental organizations have a presence in places, from Palestine to Arakan, Africa to Latin America, on which the international community has turned its back, and continued as follows: “Especially during the recent conjuncture, which our region is in, we need to strengthen our brotherhood and preserve commonsense. We as the government act very carefully against the schemes, traps and provocations that seek to drag our country into the war. We focus on not just the visible part of incidents, but also the part behind the scenes. We do not exclude any possibility or any scenario, and we analyze and examine everything to the smallest detail. Also during this process, just like last night, we are carrying out necessary preventive activities against every kind of threat that violates our airspace. Türkiye’s thousands-year-old ancient statecraft and our government’s 23-year-old crisis management experience are our biggest guides in analyzing the complicated incidents in our vicinity and giving them appropriate responses. Keeping our country away from this fire hole is our top priority.”
