“Türkiye has obtained a historic opportunity to become a global power”
Addressing AK Party’s parliamentary group meeting, President Erdoğan said: “After a 23-year uphill struggle, Türkiye has obtained a historic opportunity to become a regional and global power. No one can prevent this.”
President and Justice and Development (AK) Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the party’s group meeting at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) in Ankara.
“A REMARKABLE DISTANCE HAS BEEN COVERED IN THE TERROR-FREE TÜRKİYE PROCESS”
“Notwithstanding the traps set before our democracy, the attacks targeting our national unity and peace, and the plots aimed at squeezing us into shallow and fake agendas, we are moving forward with firm steps towards our goals,” President Erdoğan stressed. “A remarkable distance has been covered and promising results have been obtained over the past 16 months in the terror-free Türkiye process, which we as the People’s Alliance initiated last year and have thus far overseen as a state project. Lastly, the National Unity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission wrapped up last week the negotiations and consultations it had been carrying out since August 5. The final report was approved with the consensus of all political parties represented in the commission, with 47 votes in favor, 1 abstention and 2 against.”
Noting that the report sets out a very valuable roadmap as to what should be done from now on, President Erdoğan went on to say: “We consider the spirit of reconciliation that underpins the report to be of tremendous value. The politics as an institution has thus accumulated great energy and confidence regarding the steps to be taken in the period ahead. The next phase of the ongoing process will begin now. The responsibility of our party and our alliance will further grow. Our parliament will for sure serve as the engine of this new phase. We are stepping into a period that necessitates us to maximize our solidarity, coordination and cooperation as the AK Party and the People’s Alliance. Managing the new phase of the process with calm and wise, we will inshallah achieve our goal of a terror-free Türkiye.”
“WE WILL CONTINUE TO STAND BY JUSTICE AND DEMOCRACY”
President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “After a 23-year uphill struggle, Türkiye has obtained a historic opportunity to become a regional and global power. No one can prevent this. We will not allow anyone to prevent this. Nor, I am confident, will our people allow it. It is not possible to build a shared future for us on the sufferings that left a deep scar in our memory. We should grow the hopes and expand the common ground. Our expectation of other political parties is that they should extend the democratic, conciliatory, positive and reasonable stance they currently display at the commission to their parliamentary works. No evil center has ever been able to stand in the way of our thousand-year brotherhood. Today as well, if there happens to be any one ever attempting to stand before this flood of affection and reunion that spills across our borders, this very flood will sweep them away from our lands. As has been the case over the past 23 years, we will continue to stand by justice and democracy against hatred and anger, never refraining from, if need be, sacrificing ourselves in our fight for a Türkiye where everyone lives in peace, brotherhood, solidarity and unity.”
