“We work to make Türkiye a global player”
Addressing AK Party’s parliamentary group meeting, President Erdoğan said: “As has been in the past 23 years, we aim not to talk the talk but walk the walk. We work to make Türkiye a global player. We seek to wipe away the tears, stop the bloodshed, and extend a helping hand to the oppressed and victims in their difficult days across our geography.”
President and Justice and Development (AK) Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the party’s parliamentary group meeting.
“Regardless of their ethnicities, languages, sects, ideas or world views, we regard the 86 million as our brothers and our companions in destiny, never allowing any harm to our brotherhood,” President Erdoğan said. “We have focused solely on our job, which is to serve the nation. As has been in the past 23 years, we aim not to talk the talk but walk the walk. We work to make Türkiye a global player. We seek to wipe away the tears, stop the bloodshed, and extend a helping hand to the oppressed and victims in their difficult days across our geography.”
Noting that the war against Iran, a month on from its outbreak, is steadily escalating both in risks and dangers, President Erdoğan stated: “Since the advent of the war, Türkiye has become the voice of humanity and conscience through its principled stance as well as the messages it delivers to the region and the world. We sincerely wish for the sufferings of the brotherly and friendly countries to end immediately. Yet, at the top of the threats facing our region is the prolongation of the war as well as the risk that it might turn into a regional infighting. This risk is heightened even more by retaliations against energy, transportation and civilian infrastructure.”
President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “I have to make it clear that the primary culprit for this unlawful war, which has not only set our region ablaze but also placed a massive economic burden on the shoulders of the whole humanity, is the Israeli government, which is addicted to conflicts, chaos and crises. Any development that would open new fronts and thus cause the war to drag on will only serve Israel’s bloody strategy, whilst harming our region. It must be kept in mind that every drop of blood spilled in the war will only be a lifeline to prolong Netanyahu’s political lifespan. Another critical aspect is that the war against Iran does not advance the global peace vision, and quite the contrary, undermines and jeopardizes it. The primary available tool to liberate humanity from the clutches it has been squeezed into is diplomacy, dialogue, reconciliation, and to meet on the minimum common ground instead of insisting on maximalist demands. This is what wisdom, conscience, international law and justice necessitate. Our wish is for common sense to prevail, and thus to pave the way for peace without further bloodshed. We are ready to do whatever it takes to achieve this.”
