“The conquest of Istanbul means the revival and reconstruction of a devastated city”
Speaking at the “From the Conquest of Istanbul to the Conquest of Hearts” event, President Erdoğan said: “The conquest of Istanbul is the ignition of a fireplace of justice and equity that will never die out until the Day of Judgement rather than the mere extinguishing of a fireplace that used to foment discord across the geography. The conquest of Istanbul means the revival and reconstruction of a devastated city whose monuments, including the Hagia Sophia, were robbed and whose neighborhoods turned into a swamp.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the “From the Conquest of Istanbul to the Conquest of Hearts” event in Istanbul.
Noting that the conquest of Istanbul is not only a great victory that closed an age and opened a new one but also the transformation of darkness into brightness in a city that is the apple of the world’s eye, President Erdoğan stated: “The conquest of Istanbul is to show every race, every faith and every opinion the tolerance and value denied to them until then. The conquest of Istanbul is the ignition of a fireplace of justice and equity that will never die out until the Day of Judgement rather than the mere extinguishing of a fireplace that used to foment discord across the geography. The conquest of Istanbul means the revival and reconstruction of a devastated city whose monuments, including the Hagia Sophia, were robbed and whose neighborhoods turned into a swamp.”
