“We should determinedly deal with the issue of addiction”
Speaking at the launch of TRT Genç, the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation’s (TRT) new TV channel for the youth, President Erdoğan said: “We should determinedly deal with the issue of addiction, addressing it through a new approach that goes beyond public awareness campaigns. I expect TRT to assume a pioneering role in raising awareness among our citizens, as well as in generating unique, influential and high-quality projects that set an example for the whole media.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the launch of the channel TRT Genç.
“I would like to proudly state that some productions bearing the signature of TRT returning with awards from the world’s most prestigious festivals and organizations are a commendable achievement. The TRT co-production film ‘Triangle of Sadness’ returned from the 75th Cannes Film Festival with the Palme d’Or, making us all proud. A documentary produced by TRT World received an Emmy Award in the ‘News and Current Affairs’ category, marking a first for our country. Likewise, the documentary ‘Holy Redemption,’ which addresses the issue of ‘settlers,’ the most insidious aspect of the occupation in Palestine, has resonated widely across the world. In the past four years alone, nearly 100 TRT co-produced films have won close to 500 prizes at the world’s most important festivals. I wish the film ‘PALESTINE 36’ every success as it competes in the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards this year,” President Erdoğan said.
Underscoring that family is one of the battlefields where culture wars are waged in today’s world, President Erdoğan stated: “The siege and assaults that the family institution comes under today have no precedent in scale in history. Perversion and perverse relationships are being encouraged by means of characters that are embedded everywhere, relevant or irrelevant, from TV shows to movies, from cartoons to games and toys. In this regard, I consider it very valuable that TRT is endeavoring to popularize family-friendly clean content both on traditional platforms as well as on digital platforms such as Tabii.”
President Erdoğan said: “We should all know that in our view, TRT’s success stems from its ability to make productions all members of any given family can watch without any concerns, with their minds at ease. I believe this type of TV programs will grow in number and diversity with the launch of TRT Genç today.”
President Erdoğan further stressed: “We should determinedly deal with the issue of addiction, addressing it through a new approach that goes beyond public awareness campaigns. I expect TRT to assume a pioneering role in raising awareness among our citizens, as well as in generating unique, influential and high-quality projects that set an example for the whole media. As I always say, a youth that is as spiritually strong as it is physically is our most impregnable fortress against such social maladies. It is these sensitivities that drive us to promote a youth that owns ideals, vision, and self-confidence, and is committed to its national and moral values.”
