President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine held a joint press conference following their meeting

“THERE ARE NO LOSERS IN A JUST PEACE”

“I once again extend my condolences to President Zelenskyy and the friendly people of Ukraine for those who lost their lives in the war. During our talks today, we discussed in detail the recent increasing efforts to bring about peace in Ukraine and the security situation in the Black Sea. We are pleased that efforts to bring the war to an end through diplomatic means, particularly thanks to the efforts of U.S. President Trump, have regained momentum. The negotiations we hosted between Ukraine and Russia have demonstrated that concrete results can be achieved through diplomacy. At this point, we maintain that there are no losers in a just peace. I would like to underscore that we stand ready to make every effort within our power to pave the way for peace,” President Erdoğan said.

“ATTACKS ON CIVILIAN SHIPS AND ACTIONS THAT WOULD ESCALATE TENSIONS IN THE BLACK SEA WOULD BENEFIT NO ONE”

“During our meeting with President Zelenskyy, we exchanged views on ensuring the safety of navigation in the Black Sea. Since the start of the war, we have been actively working to maintain security and stability in the Black Sea. However, in parallel with the recent escalation, we are witnessing the conflict spill over into the Black Sea. It is clear that attacks on civilian ships and actions that would escalate tensions in the Black Sea would benefit no one. Regardless of who carries out these attacks or what their justification may be, we cannot accept them under any circumstances. We call on all parties to act responsibly in this regard. We will continue our discussions with the parties involved with the aim of restoring safety of navigation in the Black Sea. I believe that reaching an agreement will also give momentum to efforts to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine. We especially aim to advance this process by discussing this matter with Russia as well,” President Erdoğan said.

“FREE TRADE AGREEMENT BROUGHT US ONE STEP CLOSER TO OUR $10 BILLION TRADE VOLUME GOAL”

“Today, we also reaffirmed our commitment to the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine, our strategic partner. The entry into force on October 1 of the Free Trade Agreement signed between our countries in 2022 constitutes a significant step for our bilateral economic and trade relations. This agreement has brought us one step closer to our goal of a $10 billion trade volume,” President Erdoğan said.

“I BELIEVE OUR COMPANIES WILL MAKE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO UKRAINE’S RECONSTRUCTION”

“Finally, I believe that our companies, which have not left Ukraine despite the difficult conditions of war, will, inshallah, make significant contributions to the country’s reconstruction as well,” President Erdoğan said.
